OFFICE OF NAVAJO NATION LIBRARY:
The Office of Navajo Nation Library was established in 2001 by the Government Services Committee of the Navajo Nation Council through Resolution No. GSCAP-35-01. The Office of Navajo Nation Library is situated in the Department of Dine Education within the Navajo Nation Government. The activities of the Office of Navajo Nation Library shall be conducted by the Program Director who shall be under the general direction of the Superintendent, Department of Dine Education.
1. PERFORMANCE MEASURE:
Routine reporting of program statistics and services provided.
To report on a quarterly basis, the following program statistics and services provided:
A. Number of Library visitors.
B. Number of library cards issued.
C. Number of materials checked out (books, equipment, etc.)
D. Number of materials used onsite (magazines, newspapers, books, etc.)
E. Number of equipment used in the library (computers, typewriters, fax machines, copier, etc.)
2. PERFORMANCE MEASURE:
Technical Services – Number of books added to the collection.
To add 2,000 books quarterly by cataloging/classifying/processing.
3. PERFORMANCE MEASURE:
Navajo Book Project – Number of books/non-book materials delivered to chapters.
To deliver 200 books and 1 non-book material to each chapter, 2 times per quarter.
4. PERFORMANCE MEASURE:
Navajo Nation Library – Number of books and non-book materials donated to the library.
To secure 5,000 donated books and non-book materials per quarter.
5. PERFORMANCE MEASURE:
Navajo Nation Library – Number of children’s programming provided.
To provide 3 programs per quarter.
6. PERFORMANCE MEASURE:
Navajo Nation Library – Number of personal services provided.
To provide 1,250 personal assistance per quarter through tours, faxing, copying, orientation on using equipment, computers, fax machine, etc.
- The Office of Navajo Nation Library will provide educational, informational, cultural, and recreational materials, activities and services to members of the Navajo Nation and other residents of the Navajo Nation.
- Develop such resources in response to the informational, educational and recreational needs of the Navajo Nation.
- Provide such resources at accessible, convenient locations across the Navajo Nation.
